FAQs
Expert guidance leveraging psychology, therapy, and coaching to equip you with the knowledge, tools, and resources to support your personal growth.
When and where would we meet?
Individual sessions will normally take place on a Wednesday evening online (or on a different day based on availability) for 50 minutes and will cost £60 per session. The number of sessions will depend on availability.
The group will meet online via Zoom for 90 minutes each week for 6 weeks. Sessions will run on Wednesdays at 19:00 -20:30.
How many women will be in the group?
We will have a maximum of 8 women plus the group facilitator. The purpose is to have a small group that is supportive, non-judgemental and up-lifting.
Will sessions be confidential?
Our time together will be one that respects privacy and confidentiality. All members of the group will sign an agreement to uphold confidentiality and principled space at all times. In the event that a person is a danger to themselves or others, I as the group facilitator (qualified counsellor and coach) will need to notify the appropriate people to keep everyone safe.
Will there be one-to-one time with you?
All participating members will have an initial 15 minute consultation with me ahead of starting the experience. This will give us the opportunity to get to know each other, to explore any questions you have and for us to assess if this journey will be a good fit for you. You will also have the option to schedule in individual one-to-one sessions with me based on availability. During the 6 week experience the primary engagement will be group therapy rather than one-to-one therapy.
How much does this cost?
The optional individual sessions will be charged at the reduced rate of £60 per session.
The total cost for the 6 x 90 minute group sessions is £360 if paid in one lump sum which works out as the equivalent of just under £60 per 90 minute session.
Participants will have the option of paying via a one-off payment at the discounted price of £360.
Participants who prefer to pay in instalments will pay £390 (£195 deposit followed by 3 x £65 payments) - with the expectation that full payment is made
How does this compare to individual therapy?
The My Whole Self group counselling and coaching experience is designed to empower Black women to refresh, reclaim their values and strengths and reconnect with their authentic selves. This combination of individual and group counselling and coaching experience combines psychology, therapy, and coaching to foster positive transformation and empower women to develop healthy self-identity and self-awareness. It harnesses the benefits of shared experiences to offer valuable insights, develop new coping strategies, enhance a sense of belonging, and facilitate meaningful change.
Group therapy is a kind of therapy that takes place within a group setting with a qualified counsellor rather than one-on-one with a qualified counsellor. Together with the therapist and the other group members, you will have the opportunity to reflect and share your experiences, build self-awareness and take proactive steps towards change.
The sessions are confidential, non-judgemental and inclusive — similar to a one-to-one therapy session.
The advantage of group therapy compared to individual therapy is that you will have access to a shared space with other women, develop a sense of belonging and feel less alone in your struggles, strengthen your ability to clearly and effectively articulate how you feel and experience enriching perspectives and responses that can be affirming and transformational.
Both group and individual therapy can be useful in supporting your mental wellbeing. There are of course times when individual therapy may be more effective for your situation which we can address during our initial consultation to assess whether the experience is a good fit for you in this season.
Yes, you can attend group therapy if you are having individual therapy. Yes, you can attend group therapy if you have or have not had group or individual therapy before.
